INSTALLATION OF The 2022 KELSO LADDIE
CALLUM DAVIDSON
Wednesday 20th July 2022
Kelso Square 7.00pm
(Conveners: Ex-Kelso Laddie Murray Playfair and Mrs Deborah Young)
Kelso Pipe Band will play in The Square from 6.30pm – 7.00pm
During the ceremony the music is provided by the Jedforest Instrumental Band
and piper Alan Veitch.
The Master of Ceremonies, Ex-Kelso Laddie Colin Henderson, will introduce the visitors from neighbouring towns, the Platform Party, the Colour Bussers and the Ex-Kelso Laddies.
After each young Lady Busser has been escorted to her place by an Ex-Laddie, the Chair will be taken by Hon. Provost, Gavin Horsburgh.
The Kelso Standard will be borne to the platform by Craig Logan (Kelso Laddie 2017).
The Right and Left Hand Men, Mark Henderson and Sean Hook are then be invested with their Ceremonial Sashes by Hon. Provost Gavin Horsburgh.
The Provost will then entrust the Standard to the Kelso Laddie Callum Davidson
and declares the words of the Burgh Motto, “Dae Richt Fear Nocht”.
The Laddie descends from the platform carrying the Standard to the tune "Gallant Cheils O' Kelsae".
The standard is then bussed by the four young ladies appointed to the duty,
who this year are:
Eden Hewit & Melissa Paxton from Edenside Primary
and Scarlett Forsyth & Skylar Nicolson from Broomlands Primary,
to the accompaniment of the tune ‘Bonnie Kelsae Toon’.
The Kelso Laddie’s Reel concludes the ceremony.
Patrons are respectfully asked to observe that a block of seats in the arena is reserved for visitors from other Border towns.
Apart from this reservation, seats are available from 6.30 p.m. to all ticket holders.
It is regretted that seats cannot be provided for any persons who do not hold tickets.
