A LOOK BACK AT OUR VIRTUAL EVENTS
It was no surprise that we had to cancel Civic Week again in 2021, but we did however get you involved in a few virtual activities.
Unfortunate as it may be, we were not permitted to organise any event that involves a large gathering of participants or spectators at the time of planning our week.

Wednesday
Today would be one of the biggest days of the week for our
Kelso Laddie, but this year we are showing a virtual
recollection of all the Laddies Colour Bussing since the first year it took place in 1964.
But first we will look at:
The Ex Laddies Club Lifetime Achievement Award 2021
(This award would usually be presented on the Wednesday night)

Virtual Colour Bussing
As mentioned above there was no actual bussing ceremony this year, but out Ceremonial Convener Murray Playfair collected the photos of all the Ex-Laddies since the ceremony started with Alastair Neil back in 1064 and Gary Cleghorn has created this compilation and ended the video with a very fine rendition of Kelsae Bonnie Kelsae from Natasha Gray.
Todays song from Kelso North Church has always been a real favourite on the Wednesday night in the Tait Hall after the Bussing Ceremony.
Sung here by George McCombie, it is
"Where Tweed and Teviot Meet"
a song written by George's Father.
THURSDAY
In a normal year we would see many horses and hundreds of bikes leave the town for the short trip to visit the Duke of Roxburghe at Floors, where horse turnouts would be judged.
Then the Grand Ball through the night.
But his year?
We can tell you who have won the
"Art" and the "Photos of Kelso" competitions.

(This is a Must Watch)

It was sometimes hard to keep up with everything, but we got there in the end, THANKS.

Thank you for visiting our site, it is the intention of the site to keep you up to date with the work and progress of the Kelso Laddies Association in planning and the running of many events in the town, but primarily "Kelso Civic Week" during the 3rd week of July each year. For the history of Civic Week CLICK HERE.
Each year a young man from the town is selected by the Ex Kelso Laddies to lead the celebrations and activities during Civic Week and also represent the town at all the other border festivals through the summer.
There is a full programme of events as you can see from pages within this site, why not browse through them and see what is on offer.
The 2020 programme of events has been severely curtailed due to Covid-19, but we have left the pages available so visitors can understand what goes on during a normal year and hopefully will all happen again in 2021.

About Kelso
Visitors find Kelso welcoming market town, nestling in the heart of the Scottish Borders, it offers so much to see and do in both the town and stunning surrounding countryside. Located in easy travelling distance of Edinburgh, Newcastle and Carlisle, it’s easy to see why Kelso is Bordering on Brilliant.
The town of Kelso came into being as a direct result of the creation of Kelso Abbey in 1128. (Kelso's name stems from the fact that the earliest settlement stood on a chalky outcrop, and the town was known as Calkou) Why not learn more about Kelso by visiting the Visit Kelso Website.
