Ride to Stichill, Hume and Ednam
Tuesday 14th July 2020
Due to government restrictions relating to Coronavirus, this event will not take place in 2020
The George and Mary Anderson Cup is on offer for the Best Turned Out Horse and Rider.
Judging will take place prior to the ride departing.
Leaving from Springwood Anna, opposite the Show field, Kelso at 4.00 p.m.
The Kelso Laddie and his followers ride via The Square, Roxburgh Street, Queen’s House, Race Course,
Berryhill Farm and Newton Don Lodge to Stichill, arriving approx. 5.15 p.m.
Leaving at 5.45 p.m. The cavalcade will continue by Sweethope Farm and Humebyres Farm to Hume, arriving 6.30 p.m.
The ride will continue to Ednam via Legars and Kaimflat, arriving in Ednam at approximately 8.15 p.m.
When the riders arrive at Ednam, the Kelso Laddie and his Left and Right Hand Men invite
all children to join in the singing of the Kelso song.
There will also be a scramble for sweets for the children. Donated by Stuart Chalmers.
Ednam Village Hall will be providing a licence bar and refreshments from 7.30 p.m. – 9.00 p.m on the night.
Parking available at field behind Poppleburn Park.
The Cavalcade on leaving Ednam will make their way via fields on the Ednam side of the road
and by way of Kelso Racecourse. They will return by Pipewell Brae, Edenside Road and on to
The Square, arriving approx. 9.30 p.m.

PLEASE NOTE
NO VEHICLES except for officials will be allowed to Park in the Racecourse car park. This will
be a pedestrian only site, NO PARKING will be allowed on any of the verges or approach
roads to the Racecourse or Berryhill. These restrictions will be strictly adhered to.
Kelso Ice Rink has kindly agreed for Kelso Civic Week to use their car park and parking
attendants will be there to assist. However there will be NO FACILITIES for Horseboxes or
Trailers. This change is in response to potential safety issues.

*Hume Community Association would welcome any help in the setting up, running
and clearing up of the barbecue event that they provide every year for the riders
and supporters. This is becoming increasingly difficult to run with our small band
of volunteers and YOUR help is required please. Volunteers can contact us on the

All un-accompanied children under 16 years old on any rideout MUST wear a wristband (Supplied) with a contact phone number in case of an emergency of any kind
(Wrist bands will be issued prior to the event at the starting point.)
