The Fancy dress parade has been a popular event for many years, filling the town center and streets with thousands of spectators from near and far.
This is a fantastic spectacle to see, BUT, there would be nothing to see without the dedication, spirit and fun of all who enter the parade to entertain others either on foot, in a pram or on a float. It is perhaps more fun to be in the parade than to watch it, so get inspired with your workmates, friends or club-mates and enter the parade this year. More details below.
Float Entry Information:
The parade entrants must assemble prior to 6.30pm for judging. All floats & vehicles please assemble in East Bowmont St car park, with larger/long floats lining up on the right hand side of East Bowmont St facing east.
Safety of the entries and the general public is paramount and we ask all entries to consider this when preparing and taking part in this parade. A SAFE PARADE WILL BE A GOOD PARADE. We do ask you not to project liquids or missiles from your floats for the safety and comfort of the spectators.

We are aware of the public saying that there are to many restrictions that prevent you from entering the parade.
THIS IS NOT THE CASE
Walking Entries
Anyone can enter into the fun of the parade as a solo, pair or a group or even on horseback and dress up to entertain by the costume alone or by the actions you perform as long as it is safe to you and the public.
For 2019 we had a very special kind offer to allow anyone to be in the parade without having to do very much preparation, all it needs is a half hour of your time in advance to pick your costume (or costumes for a group) and you can be in the parade in our "Masquerade of Costume" with no cost at all. We thank Rosie for this.

Vehicles and Floats
The roads are closed during the parade so the highway regulations are relaxed provided your vehicle is safe for yourself and the general public. The parade conveners have never stopped an entry, but have advised on safety issues for enjoyment of all those taking part and spectating.
If you ever had the feeling that the parade needed a boost, that's fine, you are the folk we want!!!
Enter the parade in 2020 and you will get the boost that you want, it is great fun to prepare and then participate in front of several thousand happy spectators, even if it is only for an hour a year.
Worthy of note - Health and Safety have never had any issue with our fancy dress procession, never the less we do ask everyone to think about safety and there will be no problems..
