Message from our Chairman
You will all be aware by now that the Coronavirus Crisis (COVID-19) has certainly caused plenty of uncertainty and disruption in recent weeks and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
The Government and Scottish Borders Council have issued guidance and direction from which the Kelso Laddies Association have reluctantly taken the very difficult decision to cancel the Declaration of the 2020 Kelso Laddie and this year’s Kelso Civic Week.
Whilst we understand that this will be very disappointing news for so many of our supporters, we consider this to be the only sensible and responsible option to ensure the safety and welfare of the people of Kelso and further afield and we sincerely thank you for your understanding during these unprecedented difficult times.
We have already started planning to deliver an enjoyable and successful Civic Week in 2021 and hope that we can rely on your continued support.
Please look after yourselves and keep safe!
Tom Weatherston – Chairman
Kelso Laddies Association

Message from the Ex Kelso Laddies Club President, Andrew Haig.
With the government recommendations regarding COVID-19 and public event restrictions for the foreseeable future. The Ex-Kelso Laddies Club fully support the Kelso Laddies Associations decision to cancel all Kelso Civic Weeks events as explained in KLA Chairman, Tom Weatherston’s comments above.
The Ex Kelso Laddies Club are the body that elect the Kelso Laddie to head our Civic Week each year and it goes without saying how disappointed we are to announce that the declaration of a new Laddie will be postponed until 2021.
Civic Weeks/Festivals and Common riding's are the highlight of so many peoples year when we can celebrate the pride we have of our towns and re-kindle friendships with our neighboring Borderers, but it is more important that we all give this Virus the respect it deserves and protect ourselves as best we can.
While this is a very rare situation a similar thing has happened before when the 2001 ride-outs were all cancelled due to Foot and Mouth however this year is a much more serious situation but we bounced back then and I'm sure with the support of the people of Kelso we will do so again. On behalf of the Ex-Laddies Club I hope you all keep safe and we can all look forward to a successful Civic Week in 2021.
